According to TDC Dubai Office, Saudi Arabia sees solar power and other non-hydrocarbon sources as crucial in its plan to boost generating capacity by 50% this decade. The Kingdom is among a number of Middle East oil producers that need to produce more electricity to sustain regional growth. At present, Saudi consumption of energy relies on its own supplies of oil.

Saudi Arabia and Morocco are two of the strongest markets in the Middle East and Africa (MENA) when it comes to solar demand. From 1 September 2011, the manufacture and marketing of 60 watt incandescent tungsten bulbs is no longer allowed in the EU. This is the third stage of a gradual phasing out of “traditional” light bulbs. Hong Kong electrical goods suppliers will recall that, during the previous two years, 100 W and 75 W conventional incandescent bulbs have already been banned from the EU market.
