According to TDC Business Alert - EU, the European Commission published in January 2011 an amendment to the Directive on the restriction of the use of the substance ‘Bisphenol A’ (BPA) in plastic infant feeding bottles. According to this amendment, the use of BPA in baby bottles will be subject to an outright ban, with all such bottles on the EU market set to be replaced by the middle of 2011. Given that this ban will have an impact on the manufacturing processes used for imports into the EU of these products, Hong Kong and mainland Chinese traders should immediately be made aware of this change. |
