There is no duty or tax levied on imports of food and port meat in Hong Kong. For regulations and importing procedures, please refer to Import Control and Food Safety Guidelines provided by the Centre for Food Safety of the Hong Kong Government.

The Food and Health Bureau of Hong Kong Tuesday proposed extending the import control regime for meat and poultry to cover eggs.

Under the proposed regulation, for every consignment of imported shelled or unshelled poultry eggs commonly used for human consumption, importers must provide an official health certificate for their export issued by a competent authority recognized by Hong Kong's Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene, otherwise prior written permission from the director will be required.

In addition to a health certificate, an import license issued by the director under the Import and Export Ordinance should be obtained before the eggs can be imported. The import license and health certificates should accompany the consignment at the time of import and be produced for inspection.

I am a pork meat producer from Romania, European Union. I would be interested in exporting pork meat carcass. Would you be interested in importing meat carcass?

The import of frozen meat, chilled meat, frozen poultry or chilled poultry requires an import licence under the Import and Export Ordinance. The meat includes beef, mutton, pork, veal or lamb, and the offal of any animal from which such meat is derived. As regards contact details of meat importers in Hong Kong please check with the HKTDC sourcing website by keying relevant information.
