Major imports of the Philippines include electronics products, mineral fuels, transport equipment, cereals and preparations, industrial machinery and equipment and iron and steel.

Under the two-tier tariff policy in the Philippines, however, some sensitive agricultural products, such as grains, livestock, pork and poultry meat, sugar, potatoes, onions, garlic and coffee, are subject to a tariff-rate quota (TRQ).

As a member of the WTO, the Philippines has been complying with the Information-Technology Agreement (ITA) since 2000 by imposing zero-tariff on most information-technology equipment and inputs.

Philippines most favoured nation import duty for the kind of machine used on tractors, forklifts or other industrial handling vehicles and machines 3%; and refractory bricks, blocks, tiles and similar refractory ceramic 7%. As China and the ASEAN (of which Philippines is a member) have a free trade agreement the mentioned goods for export from China to the Philippines are free of duty provided the criteria of the place of origin is met. Please note that these information is given as reference only.

Under Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Circular 92, Series of 1995, the importation of a motor vehicle of all types, including motorcycles has been liberalized and would no longer thus require prior authority to import. However there may be other requirements with regard to brand new and/or used motor vehicles imported to the Philippines. Please refer to the Bureau of Customs of the Philippines for detail information.
