Coffee beans importing Hong Kong is free of tax ? How about the customs rate for importing coffee beans into China ? thanks |

There is no customs duty imposed on the importation of coffee beans in Hong Kong. The importation of coffee beans into China from various countries and regions is subject to duty and taxes as follows: Country of origin Duty VAT 1 MFN countries/regions 10% 17% 2 ASEAN countries 8% 17% 3 Pakistan 8.3% 17% 4 Others 30% 17% The importer is required to produce at the time of import: (i) Inspection Certificate for Inward Goods; (ii) Inspection of import plant and product made from import plants; (iii) Supervision inspection of import food hygiene, as issued by the Bureaus of Commodity Inspection and Quarantine at the frontier port in China. If Coffee beans are produced in Columbia, what is the customs rate to be imported into China from Hong Kong ? |

Columbia is one of the WTO member countries. Therefore, the MFN rate shall apply to goods manufactured or produced in that country. |

There are several categories of coffee listed in China tariff schedule HS Heading 0901 and subject to duty rates of 1) 8% for not roasted categories and 2) 15% for roasted categories. Under the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement between China and Hong Kong import into China of roasted coffee ¡V not decaffeinated from Hong Kong are free of import duty if the goods fulfill the requirement of Hong Kong Origin. |
