I would like to know the rules with exporting gold made into pins and medallions (I think it is 7113.1919) and if I have them in my hand luggage if I have to pay export tax from Hong Kong. No one can answer my question for me

Hong Kong is a free trade territory. No duty or tax is levied on either import or export including the commodity (HS 71131919 - Other articles of jewellery and parts thereof, of precious metal) you specify. However if you want to carry these goods into China you have to declare with the China Customs and 20% import duty and VAT 17% would be charged.

I sent a camera body from Mainland China to the uk, marked as "Warranty repair". The box returning has original addressed uk receipt dated 21/5/07, serial number with guarantee, and repair docket from Olympus UK confirming warranty repair undertaken. I have sent my passport to DHL, with visa and entry stamp, proof I am married to Non-Chinese national and my work permit as a teacher. Now they want original customs declaration from November 2007, or they will charge 660RMB. I don't recall declaring anything as we didn't bring much. What more can I do? What rules can I quote them!

Hi, my company placed an order to a chinese company for printed papers. An LC has been opened for US$ 2500. Now the company is claiming that the goods cannot be sent by LC as there is a customs fee of US$ 1500!! They want cash payment. This is ridiculous. What is the export duties for sending $2500 worth of printed materials? Any help will be appreciated.

for rabary: Value-added tax (VAT) is levied on the increased value of commodities at different stages of production or circulation, or on the value-added of commodities. All enterprises and individuals engaged in the sale or import of goods or the provision of processing, repair or maintenance services in China have to pay VAT.
The actual amount of VAT payable by general taxpayers is the excess amount of output VAT over input VAT. The formula for the computation of the tax payable is as follows:
VAT on goods imported by taxpayers is computed on the basis of the composite assessable value and the applicable tax rate without offset or deduction for input VAT. The formula for the computation of the tax payable is as follows:
China implements a zero tax rate on exports. There is no export-related tax. Subject to the types of products, tax payments made in respect of the stages preceding export will be partly or fully refunded.
Customs duty is levied by Customs on commercial commodities or articles entering or leaving China's national boundaries or customs territories.
Payers of customs duty on commercial commodities are consignees of imports and consignors of exports. The former have to pay import tariffs while the latter have to pay export tariffs.

for Philip: There is no specific HS Classification for the captioned goods but may be included in HS 58061090 – special woven textile fabrics. China import duty for such goods is levied at the rate of 10% and VAT 17%. Import duty of China may be searched via its China Customs Website (text in Chinese). There is no similar tariff schedule for the Hong Kong as it is a duty free region.

Under the China/ASEAN Free Trade Agreement import of the above product from Vietnam to China is free of import duty.
