Author Topic:   Importing Wines & Beers From Europe into HK and China

As the subject states I wish to import wines and beers from the EU into HK and China but I am unsure as to whether to base my business in the UK as I live in the UK or to use HK as a base as it is a good re-distribution base and is user friendly for new businesses and I will also be distributing in HK. From there I would like to open Branch offices in China in order to increase sales. I am unsure of the set up to use as well as any customs regulations and import licences I may need to obtain. Also any tax issues I may encounter. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Many Thanks in Advance Amrit

In Hong Kong duty rates on wines and liquors with an alcoholic strength of not more than 30% by volume had been eliminated from 6 June 2008. Hence import and export, storage, manufacturing and movement of such commodities will no longer require licence or permit. It has been expected therefore the market and trade in Hong Kong for wine and liquor will boom. Please click here for more information regarding setting up business, licence and registration in Hong Kong.
