UK import duty for chewing gum under HS 17041010 is rated between zero and 6.2%+27.1 EUR/100 kg MAX 17.9%. Import licence is not required for such goods in the UK.

UK import duty for the captioned HS codes 54082210 and 54082290 from India is levied at 8% third country rate. No tariff preference is available for import of this product from India to the UK.

Thanks for the information. Please confirm if there is any proposal to allow duty free import of textile fabrics into UK from India from 2010. If so in what categories. Thanks.

for Pooviah: As you may know there are many many types of textile fabrics ¡V cotton, wool, man made fibre and natural fibre fabrics (spreading over HS Chapters 51 to 58) with different rates of import duty levied in t he EU (and UK) included. For instance for cotton fabrics classified under HS Chapter 52 the import duty for third country is mostly 8%. Although India is featured as a beneficiary country under the EU generalized preference system there is no reduction of import duty rate offered as this a sensitive textile item. UK Standard VAT is charged at 17.5%.

In general there is no licensing requirement for most import or export trade for the mentioned commodities between the UK and India.

for saurabh: Sandstone is classified under HS 25162000 in the UK. Import duty for such product is zero. Standard VAT in the UK is 17.5%.
