How to become a registered user of hktdc.com?

Click on the ‘Login’ link at the top of each webpage, then click ‘Register Now’ and fill in your personal details. Upon submission of the registration form, a confirmation email will be sent to you. Do not forget to click the link in your confirmation email in order to complete the registration process. Upon confirmation, you may start using our Forum and Blog platform as a registered user.


Can I post a topic/reply/comment if I am not a registered user?

Yes, you may post as a Guest User or New User. Just click the ‘Reply’ or ‘Post Topic’ or ‘Comment’ button, a form will be loaded for you to enter your message. You will also be asked whether you wish to post as a ‘Registered User’, ‘Guest User’ or ‘New User’. Choose as you wish, fill in the mandatory fields, and then click ‘Submit’.


How do I post a new topic on the Forum platform?

You may click on the ‘Post Topic’ button, a form will be loaded for you to enter your topic and message. You will also be asked whether you wish to post a topic as a ‘Registered User’ or ‘Guest User’ or ‘New User’.

To post as a Registered User, you have to fill in your ID and Password. If login is successful, your message will be sent to moderator for approval. If login failed, you may like to retry or check out your ID and Password via the ‘Forgot ID or Password’ link.

To post as a Guest User, you have to fill in your Display Name, Email Address and the Verification Code. Click ‘Submit’, your message will be sent to moderator for approval.

To post as a New user, you have to fill in your Display Name, Email Address and the Verification Code. Click ‘Submit’, the registration form will be loaded for you to fill in personal details. Upon confirmation, you may start posting topics as a registered user.

How do I post a reply on the Forum platform?

How do I post an article on the Blog platform?

Only HKTDC appointed bloggers can post articles on the Blog platform, Please contact us at hktdc@hktdc.org if you are interested to become a blogger.


How do I post a comment on the Blog platform?

You may click on the ‘Comment’ link, a form will be loaded for you to enter your comment. You will also be asked whether you wish to post a comment as a ‘Registered User’ or ‘Guest User’ or ‘New User’.

How do I know if my topic/reply/comment has been successfully published online?

Upon submission, your topic/reply/comment will be sent to moderator for approval. Our moderator will review your submission within 2 working days. When it is published online, you will receive an email notification about the status.


Why has my topic/reply/comment been rejected?

Upon submission, your topic/reply/comment will be sent to moderator for approval. However, if our moderator considers your topic/reply/comment infringes our User Agreement, we shall notify you by email that your topic/reply/comment has been rejected. You may refer to our User Agreement for details.


How do I know if someone responded to my topic/reply/comment?

When you post a topic/reply/comment, there is an option on the form for you to indicate whether you want to receive email notification if someone responded to your topic/reply/comment. Choose ‘Yes’ if you want to be notified.


How do I edit my topic/reply/comment?

You must first login to the Forum or Blog platform before you edit your topic/reply/comment. After logged in, you will see personal greetings ‘Welcome XXX!’ at the top left corner. Click on your name, you will be able to see your profile with personal details and a list of topics that you previously created or responded to or commented on. Click on the topic title, you will be directed to the page where your topic/reply/comment is located. Next to your topic/reply/comment, there will be an ‘Edit’ link. Click on the link, a form with your message will be loaded for you to make changes. Click ‘Submit’ when finished, your edited message will be sent to moderator for approval.


How do I move/delete my topic/reply/comment?

Once your topic/reply/comment is published online, only moderator can move/delete it on the Forum or Blog platform. If you wish to move/delete it, please contact our moderator at hktdc@hktdc.org.


Why has my topic/reply/comment been moved?

If our moderator considers it is more appropriate to place your topic/reply/comment to another category, then it will be moved without prior notice.


Why has my topic/reply/comment been deleted?

If our moderator considers your topic/reply/comment infringes our User Agreement, we shall delete it without prior notice. You may refer to our User Agreement for details.


How do I rate a topic on the Forum platform?

There is no need to login before you rate a topic. Simple click on the ‘Rate this’ link, the corresponding message will be rated once. You can only rate the same message once on the same day.


How do I edit my profile on the Forum or Blog platform?

You must first login to the Forum or Blog platform before you edit your profile. After logged in, you will see personal greetings ‘Welcome XXX!’ at the top left corner. Click on your name, you will be able to see your profile with personal details and a list of topics that you previously created or responded to or commented on. Click ‘Edit Profile’, you will be directed to the page where you can edit your personal details. Click ‘Submit’ when finished.


What types of messages will be prohibited/rejected?

Messages, including but not limited to the following types, will be considered not appropriate for our FORUM & BLOG platform if they :

  • consider likely to disrupt, provoke, attack or offend others;
  • contain swear words or other language likely to offend;
  • violate someone’s privacy;
  • appear to impersonate someone else;
  • contain contact information such as phone numbers, physical address details, email addresses, post codes, website addresses, Instant Messenger IDs etc;
  • resemble selling/buying/trade leads, product catalogs and company profile;
  • advertise products or services for profits;
  • infringe copyrights or other intellectual properties;
  • involve political discussions;
  • consider to be racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit, abusive or otherwise objectionable;
  • break the law or condone or encourage unlawful activity;
  • consider to be junk, spam or off-topic for the particular forum;
  • are posted in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS; and
  • are written in anything other than English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.

How to bookmark a Forum or Blog webpage with social media websites?

There are social bookmarking icons on each webpage which allow you to store, tag and share forum and blog webpages with your friends with similar interests. If you come across a webpage that you find interesting and would like to save it for reference or share it with your friends, simply click on the links to add to your list. These social media websites are free to use but do require you to register. Once you have registered, you can start bookmarking and sharing.


How to follow our Forum or Blog channels on Twitter?

To receive Twitter updates from our Forum or Blog platform, you must first register with Twitter. Search for any of our Forum or Blog channels on Twitter, then click ‘Follow’, you are following those channels. When you log in and if there are updates from those channels, you will see the latest updates on your Twitter homepage.


How to search Forum or Blog content?

Go to Forum main page (www.hktdc.com/forum) or Blog main page (www.hktdc.com/blog), there is a search box at the top right corner. Enter a keyword under the ‘Search within this section’ tab, click ‘Search’.
